Lesson 21/01/10

Yesterday, we had an experimental lesson, where we were able to familiarise ourselves with media props such as a camera and tripod, focusing on how they function and when and where they should be used. This was very helpful as we were able to get a rough idea of what we should be looking to do in our own production. Our task was to produce a sample of a narrative given by our teacher, which was to show someone walking into a classroom.

Initially, we had planned a storyboard beforehand as we were told do, however, as we carried out our experimental use of props, shots that had been written down and produced as a storyboard, had changed drastically. This taught us a major lesson where we realised, in order to have a successful production we need to focus on our storyboards in great depth, as changes are bound to happen, therefore we should be ready and able to cope with situations where things are being changed last minute.

Whilst working on this, we learnt how to edit using a specific editing software. This was very helpful as we will now be able to edit our productions confidently. We also learnt how we can follow a sequence of a narrative with different shots, angles and locations.

Overall, this lesson was very helpful as we now feel more confident about going out and about to shoot and edit for our production.
